Guidelines for photographers

Employee photoshoot

Background

  • Use a solid white or neutral gray background, with no gradient or background elements (including blur).
  • Make sure there is enough contrast between the clothing or hair and the background. This way, the photos can also be cropped for other purposes, if necessary.

Cropping

  • Set the crop so generously that both shoulders are completely shown on the photo. Vertically, the crop of the photo can gladly go to the hips. This leaves enough room to use the cropped images in various applications.

Model pose

  • Align the model in a straight portrait line so that even the head pose is not unusually crooked.
  • Choose a straight perspective to the model (do not shoot from above or below, shoot at eye level).
  • Slight rotations in the shoulder (side can be freely chosen) benefit the dynamics in the picture. However, make sure that the upper body is always facing the camera and that the person is not pictured too sideways.
  • For eyeglass wearers, avoid clear reflections or strong shadows caused by thick eyeglass frames as far as possible.

Technical requirements

  • Make sure that the optics are suitable for portraits (no extreme wide angles) as well as a continuous depth of field of the person and no motion blur. There is no mandatory requirement for aperture or shutter speed - please adapt this to your equipment accordingly.
  • The editing of the images should be as minimal as possible and as generous as necessary. I.e. mainly image optimizations (and no massive beauty retouching) are necessary.
